A small proportion of Gmail users reported spam to unidentified contacts in their Sent files. While passwords changed and encryption settings changed, users could not block the delivery of spam messages on their accounts. Users are now confused and wonder if their passwords are hacked, as otherwise there seems no reason as to why the emails were generated.
Two-factor authentication users are also affected, and so far the Gmail support platform could not assist. Google responded that it understood the issue and was taking action to protect consumers from spam. The spam program in question is known to produce fake email headers and to appear to spamming users in Gmail, making it appear that their emails appear incorrectly in the Sent directory.
Google asked users who have suffered from the problem to report the spam information from the Help Centre to allow Google to resolve the problem with its account. The offensive messages are marked as spam and should no longer appear on user accounts.
If you are a victim of this problem, instantly update your password and create two-factor authentication just to avoid compromising the instance of your account. Once that has happened you can go to Google Forums to report the question to see if spam does not hinder a customer service representative.
The problem of spam resembles what many users faced in 2017. Spammers have managed to overcome the spam filters recorded in 2017 by ZDNet. When processing from a legitimate Gmail address, unblock websites Gmail does not delete any spam. As it did not affect data integrity or secrecy, Google did not track the error since reported 2017’s safety flaw. Their position on this issue this time is not clear except that the group is trying to solve the problem for all clients.
Although this is an issue that should be taken care of by Gmail team, from users’ aspect, it is also necessary for users to raise their awareness of online security. Some users use VPN services to surf the Internet anonymously, which can be a nice approach to prevent their private information from being leaked. To some degree, this can also reduce the chances of causing problems to their accounts.
